Broken Arrow Books was established in 1992 by Ron & Joyce Nichols of Costa Mesa, California. Joyce retired in 1992 after 24 years as a Teacher’s Aide in various K-12 grades and Ron retired from McDonnell-Douglas in 1993 after 33 1/2 years in a number of different management positions. His last position with McDonnell-Douglas was as the Director of Product Assurance for MD's portion of the International Space Station.

        Ron & Joyce visited the Custer Battlefield National Monument for the first time in 1970 and have returned numerous times over the last 37 years.

        Ron has written a number of articles concerning the Little Big Horn battle and the frontier army. He is the editor of Men With Custer: Biographies of the 7th Cavalry and The Reno Court of Inquiry and has written a full-length biography of Major Marcus Reno (In Custer’s Shadow: Major Marcus Reno, (Old Army Press, Fort Collins, CO, 1999)). Ron is a life member of the Custer Battlefield Historical & Museum Association (CBHMA) and the Custer Battlefield Preservation Committee (CBPC). Ron is also a member of the Little Big Horn Associates (LBHA), the Order of the Indian Wars (OIW), the English Westerner’s Society and the Fort Phil Kearny/Bozeman Trail Association. He previously served on the CBHMA’s Board of Directors for 10 years, and as president of that organization for almost nine years. Presently Ron serves on the Board of Directors of the Order of the Indian Wars, the Custer Battlefield Preservation Committee and the CBHMA.

        Broken Arrow Books specializes in rare and scarce out-of-print books dealing with: George Armstrong Custer, Little Big Horn Battle, Centennial Campaign of 1876, United States Army in the Plains Indian Wars, Western Forts, Northern Plains and Southwestern Indians, and Buffalo Soldiers. We attempt to purchase books for resale in the best condition available and, if issued, with an intact dust jacket. Each of our books with dust jackets is provided with a dust jacket protector. Books that do not have dust jackets have either a custom fit clear acetate cover or plain white dust jacket with protector. All books are sold with a money-back guarantee if the book is returned in the same condition as shipped within ten days of receipt.
